Mastering others is strength; mastering oneself is true power.

Tao Te Ching - Verse 33

He who would know my story yet cannot know his own.  It should come as no surprise that this burden arrives in such a way, truly I have followed the Tao and chosen this obstacle deliberately.

The knowledge that follows this exercise will not benefit him without the wisdom to interpret it, but it will demonstrate strength and perhaps he will recognize power.  This serves the end, even if it is clumsy.

It is obvious he will not recognize the unique wisdom of the Tao, but Americans all seem to love those "Confucious say", fortune-cookie proverbs.  "Reading ten thousand books is not as useful as travelling ten thousand miles."

The first step of the journey will be Praying Mantis style, the second Bak Mei Pai, and finally Wing Chun as taught to him by Fa Quan before the destruction of the temple.  The subtleties of the journey will be lost on the traveler, but it will be enjoyable.

Blemish

Can you cleanse your vision

till there is no blemish?”

Tao Te Ching – Verse 10

The symbol is a not the thing, but a representation of the thing.  It is action that will cleanse the thing from their collective vision, but until action, restfulness.  If they would ask he would caution against action, but they will not ask.  They will not see their demise even as it consumes them.

They will learn humility, or they will perish.
